Baxter Bowling

February 10, 1934 — May 14, 2015

Baxter Bowling, 81, of Mount Sterling, passed away on May 14, 2015. He was born February 10, 1934 in Manchester, Kentucky to the late Abraham and Mallie Chadwell Bowling.

Baxter moved to Montgomery County forty-five years ago after retiring from the Air Force. During his twenty years in the Air Force as a Master Sergeant, Baxter had many different jobs such as a recruiter and also spent a year fighting for our freedom in Vietnam. Baxter loved to travel the United States and always enjoyed watching basketball and rooting for the U.K. Wildcats. He always enjoyed spending his time with his wife and four girls. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lotus Smith Bowling of Mt. Sterling; four daughters, Leslie Green of Leesburg Florida, Shelia Everett of Middlebury Connecticut, Robin Sturgis (Edwin) of Mt. Sterling, Kathy Milford of Middlebury, Connecticut; two brothers, Shelby Bowling of Batavia Ohio, Roscoe Bowling (Betty) of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Kathleen Hammons of Newnan Georgia; three grandchildren, Kelly Sturgis of Mt. Sterling, Samantha Everett of Lehighton Pennsylvania, Margaret Milford of Middlebury Connecticut; one great grandchild, Brynn Caroline Wentz; special friends, Mike Waybright, Dave Lawson, Linda Newberry, Stella Collins, Claude and Naomi Hatton, Danny Tackett, and Jean Skinner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Hubert Bowling and one sister, Lattie Sams.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Hospital.
