Billy Ray Brien, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital. He was born on March 9, 1951, in Billings, Montana.

Billy spent his working career as an over the road truck driver and farmer. Billys greatest accomplishment was his family and spending time with his grandchildren brought him his greatest joy.

A member of Sugar Grove Christian Church. He was known for his amusing spirit and playful personality, often brightening the days of those around him with his humor and quick wit. Yet, beneath his jovial exterior lay a stern side, one that reflected his commitment to discipline and hard work.

Christmas held a special place in Billy's heart, filled with joy and warmth as he celebrated with loved ones. He was also an enthusiastic collector of bourbon whiskey and enjoyed the daily thrill of playing the lottery, often sharing his amusing stories and dreams associated with these playful pursuits.

Billy is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Betty Congleton Brien, who stood by him as a partner and confidante throughout their journey together; children, David Ray Brien (Gina) and Shann Brien Rison (Joey); grandchildren, Colbey Austin Ray Porter (Jenny), Logan Ann Porter (Jose), Justin Michael Rison (Lynsey), Ashton Rachel Brien, and Isaac Gage Brien, Jaxon Travis Porter; siblings, Phyllis Roberts (Richard), Cheryl Hunt, Darrell Payne, and Linda Henchon (Jerry), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Billy is proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Dora Shrout Payne; sister, Reva Cody; brother-in-law, Clyde Hunt.

Celebration of Life will be at a later date.

As we reflect on a life well-lived, we remember Billy with smiles and gratitude for the laughter, love, and lessons he imparted. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
