Bobby Charles

January 8, 1960 — September 15, 2023

Bobby Charles, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully passed away on September 15, 2023, at the age of 63. Born on January 8, 1960, in Richlands, VA, to the late Athel and Ruth Charles, Bobby lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simpler pleasures in life. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bobby was a true family man, cherishing the bond he shared with his wife Angela Rodgers and his three daughters, Jessica Charles, Nina Sorrell, and Keisha Cornett; two stepsons, Draven Rodgers and Asheton Rodgers; grandsons, Luke Martin and Liam Martin; two step grandchildren, Rose Rodgers and Eric Rodgers;  five brothers, David Charles, Buddy Charles, John Charles, Albert Charles and Tom Charles; three sisters, Gladys Redden, JoAnn Newkirk and Mary Lou Hatfield. His love and devotion to his family were unwavering, and his kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on their hearts.

As a skilled carpenter, Bobby found joy in his work. He dedicated many years to the construction industry, showcasing his craftsmanship and attention to detail. Employed by D&B Remodeling, he was not just a carpenter, but an artist, transforming houses into homes with his skillful hands.

In his leisure time, Bobby found solace in the embrace of nature. His love for camping allowed him to reconnect with the earth, surrounded by the beauty of the great outdoors. He found peace in the rustling of leaves and the crackling of campfires, finding joy in the simplicity of life's blessings.

Bobby had a creative soul, often expressing himself through his passion for woodworking. The sound of his guitar resonated throughout his home, his strumming bringing joy to all those around him. Whether he was playing his favorite tunes or simply listening to music, Bobby found solace in melodies that touched his heart and soul.

When he wasn't exploring his creative side, Bobby enjoyed relaxing and watching TV shows or movies, finding comfort in the stories unfolding on the screen. It was in these quiet moments that he found respite from the demands of daily life, immersing himself in the world of fiction, allowing his imagination to wander.

Bobby's memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends. In his passing, he leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and a reminder to find joy in life's simple pleasures. His gentle spirit and caring nature will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, and sisters.

A memorial service to honor Bobby's life will be held at Queen Street Christian Fellowship on September 25, 2023, at 12:00 pm. Prior to the service, there will be a family viewing at 10:00 am, providing an opportunity for loved ones to say their final farewells.

As we gather to celebrate his life, let us remember Bobby for his love of family, his appreciation for nature, and his ability to find beauty in the simplest of moments. May his soul find eternal peace, and his memory forever live on in our hearts.
