It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Jo Bonee, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who brought joy and kindness to all those around her. Carolyn, 76, was a cherished member of the Mount Sterling, Kentucky community, born on May 11, 1947, in Hope, Kentucky to her late parents Courtney Lykins, Sr. and Josephine Risner Setters.
Throughout her career with the Montgomery County School System, Carolyn touched the lives of countless children as an after-school supervisor, earning the admiration of her colleagues and the love of the students she cared for. Outside of her work, she found joy in her hobbies, such as crocheting, collecting Boyd’s bears, and exploring the wonders of technology through coloring on her tablet and taking photographs. Carolyn's true happiness lay in spending time with her cherished family, including her siblings, children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She was a beacon of love and compassion, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand to those in need. Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Tina Setters (Jeff), Teresa Bellamy and Louise Mercer; son, Jeb Bonee White (Jilian); grandchildren, Kaleb Curtis (Jessica), Dakota Bellamy (Clarence McVoy), Jordan Setters (Ross Marks), Whitney Setters (Joey Smallwood), Finnegan White, Sienna White, Aiden Mercer, Hunter Wall, Bobby Bonee, David Bonee, Faith Ann Bonee, Christian Stewart,; great grandchildren, Kambria Marks, Paisleigh Marks, Dawson Smallwood, Kaylee Curtis, Kayce Curtis, Kayson Curtis, Stetson Marks, Jensen Smallwood; brothers, Ebby Lykins (Shirley), and Jerry Lykins (Kelly); sister, Kathy Smith; sister-in-law, Janet Lykins; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Bonee; son, Robert Bonee; stepfather, Earl Setters as well as her brothers, Courtney Lykins, Jr., and Roger Scott Lykins.
Public visitation to honor Carolyn's memory will be held on April 9, 2024, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Gateway Christian Church in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, with a funeral service to take place at the same location on April 10, 2024, at 10:00am. Following the service, Carolyn will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Road in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
