Charles "Douglas" Botts passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born on July 29, 1951, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Prosner and Orea Trent Botts, and spent his life anchored in the community he loved, Denniston, where he made countless memories.
Douglas spent most of his employment career at A.O. Smith, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He was a man who appreciated the simple joys in life, finding solace in the vast beauty of the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or camping, Douglas had a passion for nature that brought him peace and fulfillment. He also loved gathering with family and friends for cookouts, where he would often take on the role of grill master during games of croquet, horseshoes, and badminton.
Douglas received the Lord as his Savior this past Sunday, August 24, 2025, and was baptized in a homemade front yard water fountain-a testament to his unwavering spirit and commitment to his beliefs. He was not only a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 51 years, Arlene "Gail" Botts, but also an enthusiastic gun collector and shooter, taking great pride in his collection and the camaraderie it fostered.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Gail, and daughter, Jennifer Gail Botts, who will forever cherish their years together and the memories they created. Their son, Timmie Dale Botts, died in a tragic drowning accident at a young age.
Other survivors include brothers, David Botts and Donald Botts (Carol); and sisters, Jenetta Campbell (Lee) and Kozet Davis.
In addition to his parents and son Timmie, Douglas is preceded in death by his siblings, Daniel Botts, George Botts, Juanitta Ross, Geraldine Fields, and Mildred Kendrick.
