Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles "Chuck" Ledford Butler, born on February 16, 1971, in Mt. Sterling to the late Charles and Kaye Oakley Butler. Chuck peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at UK Medical Center, at the age of 55.

A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Chuck made significant contributions to the construction industry as a dedicated metal framer with Specialty Interiors. His skill and diligence were a testament to his strong work ethic, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers.

Beyond his professional life, Chuck was a man of great spirit and joy. He had a profound love for the outdoors, often spending his free time deer and turkey hunting, as well as fishing. His enthusiasm extended to his passion for sports, where he cheered fervently for the University of Kentucky teams and enjoyed the excitement of WWE wrestling. Above all, Chuck cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Those who knew Chuck remember him as an all-around good guy and a natural jokester, always ready with a smile and a quick wit. His ability to brighten the lives of those around him leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of his family and friends.

Survived by his wife, Deb Lawill Purvis; children, Andrea McAllister, Jacob Butler, Johnathan Purvis (Tiffany), and Tyler Carpenter (Marissa); grandchildren, Jayla Blackburn, Madalyn Mae Carpenter, Leah Purvis, and Riley Grace Carpenter; siblings, Ginger Shelton (Thomas), Sandy Spicer, Becky Butler (Aaron, and Nicole Butler (Eric); brother-in-law, Raymond Lawill (Jennifer); close friend, Dwayne Butler; his fur baby, Boomer.
