March 25, 1934 — August 14, 2025

Mount Sterling

Claudette Haynes Toy, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on March 25, 1934, in Elizabethton, Tennessee, to the late Claude and Launa McClellan Haynes. Claudette was a life-long resident of Mt. Sterling, where she created a warm and loving home that was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Claudette was a devoted homemaker, pouring her heart into her family and the community around her. As a member of the First United Methodist Church, she found great fulfillment in teaching Sunday School, sharing her passion for learning and faith with the younger generation. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the classroom; she volunteered as a teaching assistant, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Claudette had a creative side that shone through her love for crafts, cooking, and crocheting. Her home was often filled with the aroma of home-cooked meals and the laughter of her children and grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart. Known for her big personality, sharp wit, and unparalleled kindness, Claudette was a natural jokester with a limitless capacity to put others before herself.

In her younger years, Claudette found joy in dancing and gymnastics, but it was her deep love for her family that remained the central focus of her life. She leaves behind her three beloved sons: Rob Toy (Ali), Mark Toy (Christy), and Brad Toy (Sandy), along with a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on through her family; grandchildren, Brandi Mcdevitt, John Toy, Will Toy, Wesley Toy (Tasha), Colby Hollon (Emily), Zachary Toy, Chase Hollon, and Jackson Toy; great grandchildren, several; sister, Ann Watts; and several nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, Claudette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie Nelson Toy; son, William "Bill" Toy; sister, Betty Barnard.

A private graveside service will be held in her honor at Machpelah Cemetery on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Pastor Scott Holley and Pastor Paul Prather will be officiating.
