Clayton Howe Gilvin, 89, of Sharpsburg, died Saturday evening, August 4, 2012, at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington. He was born October 18, 1922 in Owingsville to the late William and Lillian Gilvin.
Clayton was a Bath County native, a WWII Army veteran, he retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot and a member of the Masonic Lodge #55 in Bath County. He enjoyed Bluegrass music, hunting, fishing, selling used cars and traveling.
Survivors include; one son, William Gilvin of Century, Florida; two daughters, Sandra Gilvin of Kenly, North Carolina and Mary Gilvin of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren, Monica Wells of Richmond, Leighann Freeman (Pat) of Smithfield, North Carolina, Jared Willoughby of Owingsville, and Cameron Wells of Owingsville; one brother, Harold "Mitt" Gilvin (Jane) of Cambridge, Illinois; two sisters, Sue Gilmore of Pointarena, California and Monie DeVault of Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral will be Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 12:00PM at Sharpsburg Christian Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Sharpsburg Christian Church. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg. Pastor Lloyd Latimer and Rev. Jeff Moore will be officiating.
Pallbearers: Howard Leach, Bill Martin, Tommy Moore, Tim Petitt, Jack McVey, and Norman Thomas.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jared Willoughby and Cameron Wells.
