Debra Kay Lockard Gayhart, 63, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at UK Medical Center. Born on November 24, 1961, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Ray Jr. and Dorothy Shoemaker Lockard. Debbie built a life filled with love and creativity in Winchester, Kentucky, where she resided until her passing.
Debbie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering Christian faith and a vibrant spirit that touched the hearts of many. A proud homemaker, she dedicated herself to her family, raising her children with love and nurturing her grandchild, who were the joys of her life. Her husband, Don Gayhart, was not only her partner in life but also her greatest supporter.
An avid listener of all kinds of music, Debbie found joy and comfort in the melodies that filled her home and inspired her artistic endeavors. She was an exceptional craftsman, finding solace in painting, drawing, and design. Among her many passions was her love for plants, particularly her dedicated effort to rescue and nurture them. A testament to her green thumb was her 20-year-old orchid, given to her by Dylan, that has thrived under her attentive care. Debbie also shared her organizational skills as an event coordinator at the University of Kentucky, where she left a lasting impact on those she worked with.
A true sports enthusiast, Debra cheered passionately for the Cincinnati Reds and UK basketball teams, sharing her love for the games with family and friends. Known for her fun-loving nature and big heart, she stood strong in her beliefs and made a difference in the lives of those around her.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Don Gayhart; daughter, Sarah Guerrero (Andrew); grandson, Micah Guerrero; brothers, Gary Lockard (Diane), Rick Lockard (Tina), and Tom Lockard (Julie).
In addition to Debbie's late parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved son, Dylan Gayhart.
