Deloris Laverne Townsend

Deloris Laverne Crowe Townsend, 69, of Winchester, passed away peacefully Friday evening at her residence. She was born February 2, 1944 in Clark County to the late Owen and Catherine Hatton Crowe.

Deloris was a Clark County native, attended the East Side Baptist Church, and a former employee of Holiday Inn Express and Link Belt. She enjoyed going to church, reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, playing bingo, fishing, and attending her family's sporting events. She had a passion for cooking and had a special talent for making seven-layer salad and apple pies. Deloris dearly loved her family; her children and her grandchildren were her life.

Survivors include; two sons, Buford Townsend and David Jones (Amanda) both of Winchester; three daughters, Kay Fields (Jerry), Christina Haggard (Jimmy), and Candida "Candy" Barnett (Johnny) all of Winchester; four brothers, Ricky Crowe (Ruby) of Mt. Sterling, Owen Douglas of Clay City, Donald Crowe and Rudy Crowe both of Winchester; seven sisters, Marie Hodnett (PJ) of Luray, Virginia, Louise Morton (Bobby) of Stanton, Darlene Staton, Malinda Sizemore (Marty), Jeanette Barnett, and Laura Conkright (Paul) all of Winchester, and Bonnie Townsend of Stanton; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Thurman Townsend; one son, Thurman Townsend, Jr.; three brothers, William Crowe, June Crowe and Robbie Crowe; three sisters, Juanita Bird, JoAnne McPherson and Edith Booth; two grandchildren, Andrea Hale and Dalton Hale.

Pallbearers: Jeremy Creech, Dave Bennett, Frank Morris, Michael Gross, Ernie Bailey, James Bailey, Jr., Vannie Jackson, Jr., and Sam Ferguson, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers: Buford Townsend, David Jones, Johnny Barnett, Jimmy Haggard, Jerry Fields, Gary Stamper II, and Zachary Hale.
