It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Derrick Marshall Benton, a beloved son, partner, stepfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Derrick, born on August 26, 1983, in West Liberty, KY, peacefully departed from this world on March 8, 2024, in Louisville, KY. His warm smile and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Derrick was a dedicated Carpenter in the construction industry, where his craftsmanship and attention to detail left a lasting impact on his projects. He was a graduate of Montgomery County High School, class of 2002 and was best known for his kind and giving heart, his contagious smile, and the ability to always make you laugh. Derrick enjoyed four wheeling, listening to a variety of music genres and was an avid UK basketball fan.
Derrick is survived by his father and mother, Joe and Caroletta Benton; brothers Jason Benton (Cassie) and Craig Benton (Erika), his soulmate, Dawn Fraley; two stepsons, Jonathon and Jayden Fraley; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, one niece and two nephews and many friends; his pets, Shadow and Gracie. Derrick’s presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends alike, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Derrick was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Marshall and Reva Benton; maternal grandparents, Charles and Beneda Ross.
Funeral will be Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 6:00PM. Visitation prior from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Living Water Church. Cremation will follow the services. Brandon Ballard will be officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jonathon Fraley, Jayden Fraley, Ray McIntosh II, Dallas Spencer, Corey Cantrell and Robbie Elliott.
