With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dessie Gail Cornwell Davis, lovingly known by many as "Nanny Gail."Born on April 4, 1961, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, to the late Charles, Sr. and Helen King Cornwell, Dessie peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the age of 65.

Dessie was a proud native of Montgomery County and a woman of Christian faith who found her greatest joy in her family. She spent much of her life as a homemaker, devoted to caring for her son and animals. She was especially loved for the care she gave to the many children in her family. To so many, she was more than family-she was Nanny Gail, a source of unconditional love, comfort, and protection.

Dessie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including watching television, family dinners, and spending time with those she loved. She was rarely without her favorite drink, Ale-8 One. She also had a special love for animals, especially dogs, and her home was often filled with the pets she cared for and loved.

Dessie is survived by her children, Tiffany Davis (Josh Bastin) and Earnest Davis, Jr. AKA (PJ); grandchild, Logan Adams; great-grandchildren, Leo Adams and Rosalie Adams; and siblings, James Cornwell, Charles Cornwell, Jr., Timothy Cornwell, and Tina Smith (Dave) along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Elliot.

Dessie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her greatest legacy is the love and care she gave so freely to her family, children, and animals. Nanny Gail's love will live on in the hearts of those she cared for and in the many lives she touched.

Private family services will be held.
