With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Diane Sue Ishmael Brierly, who left this world on May 11, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on June 10, 1954, in Flemingsburg, to the late Junior and Jewell Morris Ishmael. Diane was a cherished resident of Carlisle, where she touched the lives of many through her kindness and warmth.
Diane was a devoted wife to Ben Brierly, with whom she shared an incredible 55 years of marriage. They built a beautiful life together, grounded in love and shared values, and they were active members of the Carlisle Christian Church. Diane's commitment to her family was evident in everything she did; she was an advocate homemaker who found great joy in cooking, crafting, and creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
Nurturing by nature, Diane devoted 25 years of her life as a nursing aide at Johnson Mathers Hospital, where she offered care and compassion to her patients.
Diane was an avid crafter, known for her beautiful crochet work and her knack for colorful creations. She loved to spend her leisure time playing bingo, shopping, and coloring books. However, her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, Kayla and Landon, with whom she shared countless cherished moments.
Diane's gentle spirit and loving nature will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ben Brierly; only child, Brad Brierly; grandchildren, Kayla Brierly and Landon Brierly; sister, Tina Ishmael; nieces, Lori Bach, Christy Martin, and Jeriah Ishmael; nephew, Jody Bach, all will forever hold her memory close to his heart.
In addition to her late parents, Diane is preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Ishmael Bach.
