Doris Ann (Caudill) Nolan

June 6, 1935 — February 7, 2016

Doris Ann Caudill Nolan, 80, of Mt. Sterling, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, at the Windsor Care Rehabilitation Center.  She was born June 6, 1935, in Montgomery County to the late Fred and Clancie Jacobs Caudill.

She was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Sterling High School and a member of the Mt. Sterling First Presbyterian Church.  Doris moved back to Montgomery County in 1961 from Lexington, Kentucky and Parris Island, South Carolina.  Doris was a secretary and a court reporter at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, as well as in Kentucky.  At one time, she was the only court reporter for eastern Kentucky.

Doris had an outgoing and giving personality and never knew a stranger.  She served as a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother for many years.  She was very active in the Mt. Sterling Historical Society and the Gateway Regional Center for the Arts.  She enjoyed theater, genealogy, traveling, playing bridge, flower and vegetable gardening, and UK basketball.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Rick Nolan (Joy) of Lehigh Acres, Florida; one daughter, Cindy Abraham (Richard) of Paducah; one sister, Mary Manley of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren, Scytha Freeman (Charles) of Paducah, McKynleigh Abraham of Auburn, New York, and Coral Nolan of Tallahassee, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Nolyn, Charlie Teegan, and Bruce Ethan; daughter-in-law Teryl Nolan Hesse of Winter Haven, Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Nolan.
