Dorothy May Ausbon

Dorothy May Upton Ausbon, a beloved mother, nurse, and gardener, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on February 8, 1940, in Tupelo, Mississippi, she made Paris, Kentucky her home for over 40 years.

She embraced her career as a nurse, where her compassion and dedication continued to make a significant impact on those she cared for. Her Christian faith served as her guiding light throughout her life, instilling in her a strength and resolve that inspired all who knew her.

In her leisure time, Dorothy found joy in gardening, cultivating not only beautiful flowers but also cherished memories with her friends and family. Her love for yard sales was legendary, and she had a knack for discovering treasures that often-held stories and significance.

Dorothy is survived by her children, James Ausbon, Linda Taylor (Kenneth), Alicia Smith (Andy), Heather Corbin (Matt), and Tim Chitwood; grandchildren, Kassie Ausbon, Melody Westmoreland, Selena Faulkner (Matthew), William Cantrell, Brittany Arnett (Kenny), McKenzie Jones (Shan Howell), Ashton Smith (Ally), Adalyn Smith, and Remington Corbin; great grandchildren, Brooks Necessary, Kingston Berry, Milani Davis, Shan Howell III, Mila Howell, Taylor Ausbon; brother, Charles Upton (d. Jill). She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, which will continue to inspire future generations.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; Clarence Upton and Ressie Halloway Upton and her sister & brother-in-law, Martha Sears (Joe).
