Sharpsburg
Edward Gene Stull, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the Fountain Circle Nursing Home. He was born on February 24, 1942, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Henry and Rosie Thompson Stull.
Gene was known for his sharp intellect and dedication as an industrial engineer with a long-standing career at A.O. Smith, where he made significant contributions. His passion for his work was matched only by his love for family and friends.
A proud Kentucky Colonel, Gene was a man of deep faith, grounded in the Christian tradition. He embraced life's simple pleasures, enjoying leisurely afternoons on the golf course, cheering for the University of Kentucky basketball team, and rooting for his favorite NASCAR drivers. He often found joy in watching classic Westerns, sharing laughter and stories with his loved ones.
Gene is survived by his beloved daughters, Dina Stull Thorne and Crystal Stull Brashear (Shayne); grandchildren, Ashley Thorne and Nicole Thorne Evans (Joel); great grandchildren, Jayden Ritchie, Olivia Purvis, Rylan Purvis, Lily Purvis, and Jordyn Vance; siblings, Carolyn Stull Walters (d. Bobby Walters) and Janice Stull Miller (d. Orville Miller, Jr.); numerous other family members. All will carry forward his legacy of kindness and dedication to family. He leaves behind a community that will miss his warmth and infectious spirit.
In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana Shrout Stull.
The family will honor Gene's life and legacy in a ceremony that will be held Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory. Details of the service will be shared with friends and family in the coming days, providing an opportunity for all who knew him to pay their respects and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
As we reflect on Gene's journey, we remember a man who exemplified strength, wisdom, and unwavering love. May he rest in eternal peace.
