Elizabeth Frances Carpenter

October 22, 1935 — March 12, 2014

Elizabeth Frances James Carpenter, 78, of Mt. Sterling, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling. She was born October 22, 1935 in Sharpsburg to the late George William and Martha Ellen Jones James.

Frances spent her early childhood in Bath County before moving to Montgomery County as a teenager. She was a homemaker, a member of Christian Assembly of God and had recently been attending Victory Chapel in Sharpsburg. Frances was an excellent cook; she always made jam cakes and chocolate pies for her family's birthdays. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, babysitting, flowers, gardening, watching UK basketball and most of all going fishing with her husband of 45 years, Elbert Lee. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Frances is survived by her husband, Elbert Lee Carpenter of Mt. Sterling; three sons, Billy Rairden (Tammy), Elbert Lee Carpenter, Jr. (Deborah) and Rodney Carpenter all of Owingsville; three daughters, Peggy Johnson (Robert) of Owingsville, Paula Miles (Chip) and Martha Franklin (George) both of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Betty Chambers (Sherman) of Olympia; ten grandchildren, Randy Johnson (Melissa), Shawnna Maloney (Mike), William Rairden, Heather Ensor, Stacey Ensor, Josh Miles, Karissa Carpenter, J.T. Carpenter, Courtney Dawn Carpenter, and Miranda Lewis; seven great grandchildren, Cody Campbell, Taylor Lewis, Kennedi Johnson, Cameron Lewis, Mattie Ensor, Braydon Gross, and Kaitlynn Rairden; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Carpenter; two grandchildren, Melissa Arnett and Rodney Gage Carpenter.

Pallbearers: George Franklin, Robert Johnson, William Rairden, Randy Johnson, George James, and Paul Ensor.

Honorary Pallbearers: Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
