Gaynell Rudder Jackson, 88, a cherished member of the Mt. Sterling community, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Born on December 3, 1936, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Espy and Lalah Griffin Rudder. Gaynell cherished her hometown, where she later graduated from Mt. Sterling High School.

Gaynell dedicated 61 years of her life to her beloved husband, Billy Jackson, and together they raised a family rooted in love and loyalty. She was the proud mother of Ann Moore and Brad Jackson, whose strength and dedication reflect the values Gaynell instilled in her family. Known for her quiet demeanor and attentive nature, Gaynell was a great listener, always there for her loved ones with a gentle word.

As a devoted member of the First Church of God, Gaynell found joy and companionship in church luncheons and community events. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, nurturing her spirit and guiding her in her daily interactions. She was also a passionate bird watcher and took great delight tending to her beautiful porch flowers, transforming her outdoor space into a sanctuary of color and life.

Gaynell's love for college basketball, particularly her unwavering support for UK and Auburn, brought her immense joy and a sense of camaraderie with friends and family alike. Her loyalty to her family and friends was unwavering, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Gaynell is survived by her daughter, Ann Jackson Moore (Jim); brother, Doug Rudder (Laura); grand fur babies, Jake and Benji; nieces & nephews, several; great nieces & nephews, several; brother-in-law's, Darvin Jackson (Linda) and Bill Lyle; sister-in-law, Linda Jackson (Jim Costigan); special best friend, Helen Goldie.

In addition to her parents, Gaynell is preceded in death by her beloved husband Billy Jackson, cherished son, Brad Jackson; siblings, Norma Jean Lyle, Evelyn Smith, Marion Wayne Rudder, and Paul Dale Rudder; sister-in-law, Louise Hovermale.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 10:00AM 12:00PM, followed by a funeral service at the First Church of God at 12:00 PM. Gaynell will be laid to rest at Machpelah Cemetery. Pastor David Dooley will be officiating.

In remembering Gaynell Jackson, we celebrate a life dedicated to love, family, and faith-a life that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gaynell's memory to the First Church of God, 1051 Camargo Road, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
