Garland Stanley Lovell, a cherished member of the Bourbon County community, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on October 17, 1957, in Little Rock, Kentucky, to the late Roy Lovell and Mary Ruth McGlothin. Garland spent his life in Paris, Kentucky, where he nurtured a deep love for his family, friends, and the great outdoors.
As a devoted Baptist Christian, Garland found spiritual solace at Beaver Baptist Church in Cynthiana. His faith guided him through life, fostering a spirit of kindness and humor. Known for his laid-back demeanor and quick wit, he was a beloved jokester who had a special nickname for everyone he crossed paths with.
Professionally, Garland dedicated himself to the agricultural industry as a landscaper, relishing the joy of transforming the natural world around him. He had an undeniable passion for gardening, often seen tending to his plants with love and care. In addition to his love for the land, Garland enjoyed fishing, cooking, and cheering on the University of Kentucky basketball team, often with a cup of coffee in hand while sitting on his front porch, reflecting on the simple pleasures of life.
Garland is survived by his beloved children; Joshua Lovell, Christina Lovell, and James "J.D." Lovell, grandchildren; Kylie Lovell, Caiden Lovell, Wyatt Lovell, and Jaxon Lovell, siblings; Royce Lovell, Edgar Lovell (Peggy), Virginia Lovell Huff (Tony), Alfred Clemons, and Bonnie Fraker who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter.
Though Garland's physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His humor, kindness, and passion for life will continue to inspire those who loved him.
Garland was preceded in death by his parents; Roy Lovell and Mary Ruth McGlothin, son; Garland Stanley Lovell II, and siblings; Maxine Hoover and Bige Lovell.
