Gary Robert Hutson, 86, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday morning, July 24, 2026, after a short battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He was born on March 10, 1940, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the late Dorothy (Logue) Cooper and Jerald Robert Hutson.

A faithful member of Christian Assembly of God, Gary devoted his life to serving God, loving his family, and investing in the lives of others.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Esther Lavern Hutson; sisters Dora Lane Pearcy (Merl) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Connie Gregory of Hot Springs, Arkansas; son, Jim Hutson (Cheryl) of Kissimmee, Florida; daughter, Jennifer Pendleton (Charles) of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; son, Christopher Hutson of Dallas, Texas; stepson, Robert Van Savage (Christine) of Bailey, North Carolina; grandsons, Charles A. Pendleton of Wilmington, OH, and Samuel R. Pendleton of Panama City, FL; granddaughters Megan Bennett of TX, Chelsea Hutson of SC, Madison Van Savage-Maben (Alex) of NC, Macey Van Savage of NC, and Lily Pendleton of Mt. Sterling, KY; three great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss Gary's kindness, good humor, and wise counsel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-son, Richard Van Savage; and his grandson, Richard Hutson.

Though Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, his family rejoices in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and finds comfort knowing they will see him again.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1 at 11:00 AM at Christian Assembly of God, 1834 Owingsville Road, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. -John 17:3
