Iris Cotton Fox

Iris Cotton Fox, 96, of Nashville, Tennessee, died Tuesday afternoon, January 15, 2013 at Alive Hospice in Madison, Tennessee. She was born on April 29, 1916 in Richmond, Kentucky to the late Brutus and Janie Todd Cotton.

Iris, a native of Madison County, had resided in Nashville for the past six years having moved from Winchester where she was a member of the First Christian Church. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College, which is now known as Eastern Kentucky University. She spent a great deal of her life working in photography where she and her husband, Gay, owned and operated Fox Photography in Lexington. She was a member of the Lexington Senior Stars where she played the ukulele and sang which fed her passion for entertaining. Iris will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Survivors include; one son, Kent Fox and his wife, Gloria of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; one daughter, Brenda Dixon of Nashville; two brothers, Woodrow Cotton and Harry Cotton (Doris) of Richmond; four grandchildren, Dodd Dixon of Winchester, Dana Dixon Brookshire of Winchester, Darren Dixon of Gladeville, Tennessee, and Pete Fox of Riverside, California; eleven great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jo Cotton of Richmond.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gay Fox; a brother, Neville Cotton; a sister, Eleanor Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Cotton.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Alive Hospice, 500 Hospital Dr., Madison, TN 37115.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00PM at White Oak Pond Christian Church, 1238 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, Kentucky. Her final resting place will be in Winchester Cemetery.
