Ivan Dewain Clemons, 73, a dedicated salesman in the automotive industry and the proud owner-operator of a car lot, will be remembered for his passion for antique motorcycles and cars. Ivan was born on May 18, 1951, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Howard and Ruby Kidd Clemons and sadly passed away on October 6, 2024.
Throughout his life, Ivan found joy in creating masterpieces from automotive bodywork, and he delighted in restoring old tractors. He bought his first motorbike at age 10 and owned at least one ever since. He started buying, selling, and working on cars at age 13. He first began selling cars professionally in 1972 and worked at Bluegrass and Paul Miller before operating Clemons' Used Cars for about 50 years in Camargo.
Apart from his professional success, Ivan's true wealth lay in the memories he shared with his beloved daughter, Tammy Clemons (Timi Reedy) and his life partner Carole Hall; brothers, Jim Clemons (Wilma) and Darrell Clemons (Kathy); sister, Tracye Russell; stepson Chris Hall; and grandchildren Blake and Kaylee Hall. In addition to Ivan's parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Alan Dale Clemons, and Diana Jean Clemons.
Ivan was always ready to go above and beyond the call of duty to help anyone in need whether he knew them or not, and he was a well-known animal lover who rescued and adopted numerous pets including dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished peaceful moments spent fishing by the water and working on his family farm. He was generous, intelligent, witty, determined, and he lived life fully on his own terms.
To honor his life and legacy, Ivan requested cremation with no services. As a tribute to his memory and the impact he had on those around him, friends and family will later celebrate his life in a private reflection of his passion for cars, motorcycles, and the joys of nature that he loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a local Humane Society. Ivan Dewain Clemons will be missed by many and will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
