James "Tommy" Thomas Moore

April 23, 1931 — June 13, 2019

James “Tommy” Thomas Moore, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Saint Joseph Mt. Sterling, with his family close by his side.  Tommy was born April 23, 1931, in Montgomery County, to the late Carl "C.B." and Mildred Ann "Trixie" Moore.

Tommy was the first of his family to obtain a high school diploma and graduated from Mount Sterling High School, Class of 1949.  After graduation, in 1951 Tommy joined the Air Force and served in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War.  He was later Honorably Discharged in 1955.  Following the service for his country Tommy retired from Rockwell International.

He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey “Jeff” Owens Moore and James “Jim” William Moore (Ann), both of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren,  JD Moore of Washington D.C., Amanda Moore of Mt. Sterling, Isaiah Moore of Morehead and Ciara Moore of Mt. Sterling.

Tommy was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in his death by his wife, Willie Mae Hunt Moore and his sister,  Billie Dean Rogers.

Funeral will be Monday, June 17, 2019 at 11:00AM.  Visitation is Sunday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, both services will be at the First Church of God.  Burial will follow at the Machpelah Cemetery.  Pastor David Dooley will be officiating.

Pallbearers: JD Moore, Isaiah Moore, Reggie Moore, Amanda Moore, Jim Moore and Jeff Moore.

Honorary Pallbearer: Ciara Moore.
