Janice Lea (Welch) Riddle

May 13, 1949 — April 1, 2023

Janice Lea Welch Riddle, 73, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 1, 2023 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 13, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Charles and Mary Louise Hamm Welch.

Janice was a member of Bethesda Church, Sterling Rebekah 82 and the Montgomery County Cattleman's Association.  She was a retired phlebotomist with Saint Joseph Hospital and enjoyed picnicking, camping, traveling, adventure and feeding her family their favorite things, trying new recipes and growing tomatoes, herbs, blueberries and pumpkins.  She liked watching Zoe Hart on Heart of Dixie, Jeopardy, Golden Girls, the Hallmark Channel, Wheel of Fortune and crime shows.  She played Sudoku, Rook, rummy, solitaire and worked puzzles.  She loved a good purse and her cabin on the mountain as well as helping the hungry and pouring her love into her children and grandchildren, teaching her grands about life and storytelling.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Janice is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Spencer (Daniel) of Mt. Sterling and Casey Puckett (Bryan) of Jeffersonville; six grandchildren, Joey and Ashley Spencer, Joshua and LaShannon Spencer, Chase and Sydney Spencer, all of Mt. Sterling, Austin and Shanae Barnett of Hindman, Lane Barnett of Owingsville and Alex Puckett of Jeffersonville; nine great grandchildren, Brendon Spencer, Cali Spencer, Ellie Spencer, Owen Spencer, Jake Spencer, Josie Spencer, Bristol Spencer, River Barnett and Everett Wright; two sister-in-laws, Myra Toy and Sue Riddle; great niece, Bailey Welch; special friends, Brenda Hatton. Janet McMillen and Sandy Cockrell; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband James Riddle; daughter, Teresa Barnett; son-in-law, Savoy Barnett; brother, Chuck Welch; nephew, Chris Welch.

Memorial service will take place at 6:00PM on Friday, April 14, 2023.   Visitation will be prior from 4:00PM - 6:00PM.  Both will take place at Bethesda Church 3339 Winchester Road, Mt. Sterling.  Pastor Paul Prather will be officiating.
