Joe Marshall King

March 22, 1946 — May 15, 2021

Joe Marshall King, 75, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on March 22, 1946 to the late Roy and Ada Wesley Reese King.

Joe moved to Montgomery County from Lawrence County.  He was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church and was a forty year veteran of the United States Air Force  and Army Reserve, serving as master sergeant.  Joe was a retired teacher and principal, he enjoyed; reading, flower gardening, the beach and his dogs.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Beverly King; four children; Joe Marcus King of Mt. Sterling, Kim King Mills (William) of Mt. Sterling, Pamela Dickerson Smallwood (Scotty) of Lake Side Park and Charles Michael Myers (Shannon) of Lexington; ten grandchildren; Brice Smallwood, Griffin Smallwood, Walker Smallwood, Addison Myers, Cooper Myers, Jonathan Mills, Nathan Mills, Landon Mill, Blane King and Harper King; one sister; Patty Cornett of Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers; Shawney Roy King and David Ewing King.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 12:00PM with military rites, visitation will be prior from 11:00AM - 12:00PM, both will be held at Ascension Episcopal Church.  Father Bruce Boss will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the  American Heart Association, 300 S.  Riverside Plaza Suite 1200 Chicago, IL 60606 or the Ascension Episcopal Church P.O. Box 653 Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
