John Moore

September 6, 1930 — August 29, 2019

John Moore, 88, died on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on September 6, 1930 to the late Henderson and Elizabeth Highley Moore.

John was a native of Mt. Sterling and a member of Rolling Hills Church of Christ.  He retired from a career hauling fuel for the local Ashland Oil bulk plant.  John was a man who enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, spending time with grandchildren and always put his family first.  His friends and family will miss him greatly.

He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-two years Edna Pendleton Moore of Mt. Sterling; two sons, Doug Moore (Beth) of Owingsville and Mike Moore (Vicki) of Corbin; three grandchildren, Jonathan Moore of Corbin, Kristin Moore of Owingsville and Karin Moore of Lexington; two great grandsons Austin Hammack and Ryan Moore both of Corbin and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Henderson and Elizabeth Moore, John was preceded in death by his granddaughter Amy Moore; three brothers, Earl Moore, Everett Moore and Jimmy Moore and his nephew Charles Moore.

Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 1:00PM at Machpelah Cemetery.  Brother Jerry Carmichael and Brother Danny Murphy will be officiating.

Pallbearers: David Cockrell, Phillip Holley, Lonnie Moore, Donnie Price, Earl Clay Gilvin and Ronnie Gudgell.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in John's honor to Rolling Hills Church Camp.  Donations can be sent to Rolling Hills Church of Christ, 125 Rolling Hills Drive, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
