It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Lanny Lamire Jouett, 61, entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Lanny was born on January 9, 1965, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Sanford and Dorothy Jouett.
A proud 1983 graduating class of Montgomery County High School, Lanny was a talented athlete who showcased his skills on the football field while attending Kentucky State University, where he earned degrees in Studio Art, Drafting, and Technical Design and graduated in 1987 on the dean's list. He dedicated 37 years of his life to Sheridan Kentucky in Versailles, where he excelled as a book plate maker, contributing his artistry to the printing industry and leaving an indelible mark on his coworkers and the craft he loved.
Lanny was a passionate sports car enthusiast and an ardent fan of UK sports, often found cheering for his team with the same fervor he brought to every aspect of life. He relished the opportunity to watch movies and listen to music at full volume, filling his home with joy and laughter. Most importantly, Lanny cherished the moments spent with his family, always eager to create memories through outings and shared experiences.
Lanny's faith was an essential part of who he was, he was quiet in his worship and kept that between him and the Lord. He loved the Lord and sought to reflect that love in his actions and interactions. His kind spirit and genuine warmth touched the lives of everyone he met, and his legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving spouse of almost 39 years and would have celebrated their anniversary on July 18, Joetta Jouett, whose companionship brought him immeasurable joy and support throughout their journey together; loving children, Cameron Jamire and Cailyn Monique; only grandchild, Amina Penelope Rose Jouett; sister, Jennifer Jackson; brother-in-law's, Reverend Ricky Walker and Brian Walker (Cara); nieces, Dominique Hurt, (special niece) Shonda Burns, Maya Walker, Adia Jouett, Allison Jouett, Alyssa Jouett, Kathryn Elliot, Brytni McKenzie, and Abby Donathan; nephews, Rico Walker, Jason Walker, Bryan Jackson, Anthony Jouett, and Braden Walker.
In addition to his late parents, Lanny is preceded in death by his brothers, Mark Jouett and Vance Jouett; sister, Doris Carter; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Ovella Walker.
Friends and family are invited to gather in Lanny's memory. A visitation will be held at Evergreen Baptist Church on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location, at 1:00 PM. Lanny will be laid to rest following the funeral at Olive Hill Cemetery. Reverend Ricky Walker and Reverend Arthur Douthitt will be presiding.

Honorary Pallbearers: Tony Douthitt, Darrin Taul, Steve Greene, Cortez Mason, Bryan Jackson, Jerry Stevens Jr., Alfego Ragan, Rodney Pitts, and the Kentucky State University Football Team
