LeRoy Johnson, 97, of Jeffersonville, died Friday afternoon, September 8, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was born June 17, 1920 in Russell County, Virginia to the late Lee Andrew and Martha Hurd Johnson.
LeRoy was a life-long resident of Montgomery County, of the Christian faith, retired from Hobart and a United States Army Air Force War World II veteran. He enjoyed buliding ships and houses in bottles, carpentry and farming tobacco. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include; one sister, Gladys Johnson of Frenchburg; two nephews, William Johnson (Pam) of Jeffersonville and Ronald Johnson (Donna) of Frenchburg; five great nieces & nephews, Sherrie Hopkins (Marion), Kim Henderson (Bobby), Karie Chaffins (Kevin), all of Jeffersonville, Christina Collinsworth and Tracy Perry, both of Frenchburg; two great-great nephews, Douglas Hopkins and Travis Culbertson, both of Jeffersonville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Laney Johnson and twelve siblings.
