It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Sue Compton Wright, age 71, of Mt. Sterling, who left this world peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born on June 17, 1954, to the late Estill Compton and Mildrad Byrd Amsden, in Middletown, Ohio.
Linda was a dedicated truck driver, navigating the roads with the same determination she brought to every facet of her life. She broke barriers in a traditionally male-dominated industry, proving her strength and capability.
Outside of her professional life, Linda found joy in gardening, playing card games, crafting, sewing, and crocheting. She cherished the moments spent with family and was known for her creativity, often turning simple materials into cherished gifts. The warmth and love she poured into her crafts and activities reflected her generous spirit.
A devoted member of the Church of the Harvest, Linda's faith played a significant role in her life, providing her with strength and community. Her presence will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Linda is survived by her loving children, Pleas Wright, Jr. (Tonya) and Jessica Cole (Gary); grandchildren, Hulia Cole, Alex Wright, Joshua Cole, Kaylee Wright, and Isabella Wright; great grandchildren, Talon Wright and Everlyn Wright; siblings, Sandra Ring (John), Phylis Rodgers (Steve), Geraldine Frazier, Jimmy Thompson, and Timmy Compton; and numerous extended family members. All will carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength.
In addition to her late parents, Linda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pleas N. Wright, Sr.; loving son, Scottie Wright; brother, Estil Compton, Jr.; step-mother that raised her, Mary Alice Compton.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at the Church of the Harvest on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the celebration of her life and the love she shared with all. Pastor Marion Fawns will be officiating.
In this time of reflection, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to courage and compassion. Linda Sue Wright will be forever remembered in our hearts.
