Mabel June (Scott) Marye

March 28, 1929 — October 18, 2023

Mabel June Marye, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023, at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital. Born on March 28, 1929, in Corbin, Kentucky, to the late Luther and Bessie Scott, Mabel lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication.

Mabel had been a resident of Montgomery County since 1968.  She was of the Episcopal faith, a graduate of Henry Clay High School, Lexington, Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky where she was a member of the Home Economics Club.  In her early years she was also a service assistant at the General Telephone Company. As a homemaker, she poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and loving home for her family. She extended her time and talents with her involvement in the Little Theater Group and enjoyed making costumes and sewing.  She loved visiting the beaches of North Carolina and was once on the Price is Right television show.  Mabel's love and dedication to her family and friends knew no bounds and left an indelible impact on their lives.

Mabel's memory will be forever cherished and kept alive by her surviving relatives; her children, Edward "Teddy" Marye III of Owingsville and Taylor Marye-Baker (Marcus) of Washington; grandson, Courtney Marye and his wife Kaylee;  Her sister, Joanne Everman of South Carolina; brother-in-law, Davis Marye (Glennis) of Bedford; special friend, Sally Purvis of Mt. Sterling. They will fondly remember the countless memories they shared.

In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Marye, Jr. and her son, Scott Marye.

A celebration of Mabel's life will be planned to honor her memory and will take place at a later date.
