Marjorie (Lee) Birch

March 5, 1928 — December 9, 2015

Marjorie Birch, 87, of Mt. Sterling, died Wednesday afternoon, December 9, 2015 at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling. She was born March 5, 1928 in Mt. Sterling to the late John and Dollie Wingate Lee.

Marjorie was a Montgomery County native, a member of the First Church of God and previously worked at Hobart, where she was the first woman forklift operator.  Along with her late husband, they owned and operated the Sideview Country Store in Montgomery County and Birch's Grocery in Clark County.  She was very active in the First Church of God; a member of the quilting group, the Women's Missionary, the choir and taught Sunday School.  Marjorie enjoyed cooking huge meals, especially for her friends and family during Court Day.  Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and church family.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include; one son, Steve Birch (Brenda) of Daytona Beach, Florida; one daughter, Darlene Ruthenburg (Keith) of Mt. Sterling; five grandchildren, Michelle Burnett (Brian), Kelly Howe (Craig), both of Alexandria, Indiana, Corey Birch (Robyn) of Lexington, Jeff Birch (Miranda) of San Diego, California and Brent Birch (Lauren) of Daytona Beach, Florida; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Larry Lee (Kay) of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Juanita Eades of Moultrie, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Birch; three brothers, Forrest Rogers, John Lee and Alex Lee; two sisters, Joyce Richardson and Alberta Lee.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the First Church of God's Youth Group.

Pastor John Henry will be officiating.

Pallbearers:  Corey Birch, Brent Birch, Craig Howe, Brian Burnett, Micah Birch, Elijah Burnett and Brennan Canada.

Honorary Pallbearers: Jeff Birch, Kyle Lee, Bret Lee, Kevin Lee, Red Lee and the Heritage Sunday School Class.
