With gratitude for a life filled with love, service and family, we announce the passing of retired businesswoman Marjorie Marie Shultz Cannon, who departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on April 15, 1933, in Bath County to the late Irvin and Susie Armitage Shultz, Marjorie was devoted to her family and an extraordinary member of her community.
Marjorie relocated to Montgomery County from Bath County in 1952, where she spent her life raising her family and investing deeply in the community she loved. She was a faithful member of the First Church of God, serving diligently on the bereavement committee and forming lasting bonds with her fellow congregants. Her spirit of service extended far beyond the church walls-she contributed her time and talents to the Sarah Winn Home, Montgomery County Tourism, and the Gateway Aging Board, where she served with distinction as a board member.
Civically minded and widely respected, Marjorie was active in local politics and served as an election officer for more than 40 years. Her support was highly valued by many candidates' seeking office, and her commitment to the principles of representative government was admired throughout her community.
In addition to her many contributions, Marjorie found joy in recreational pursuits, particularly bowling, a sport she continued well into her 80s. She loved attending her family's sporting events and often reminisced fondly about her own high school days playing basketball. In her later years, she was lovingly cared for by the compassionate staff at Sterling Meadows.
Marjorie is survived by her beloved children, Roland "Nick" Cannon, Jr. (Donna) and Basha Roberts (Bill); her treasured grandchildren, Emilee Wiler (Logan) and Zoe Cannon; and her sister, Geneva Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Roland Cannon, Sr.; her beloved grandson, Austin Roberts; her sister, Dorothy Littleton; her brother and sister-in-law, Milbourn and Anna Belle Shultz; and her brother-in-law, Ralph Daniels.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marjorie's memory to the First Church of God, 1051 Camargo Road, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353.
In honoring Marjorie's life, we remember her unwavering dedication to her family, her infectious enthusiasm for life, and her boundless love for those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the First Church of God, followed by the Celebration of Life at 1:00PM. Marjorie will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg with a private family committal. Pastor David Dooley will be officiating.
