Mary Ann Broderick Laible, affectionately known as "Grannie Annie", 73, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 22, 2022 surrounded by loved ones at her residence. She was born in Great Bend, Kansas on June 8, 1948 to the late Francis "Frank" Sr. and Kathryn Hagen Broderick.
Ann moved to Montgomery County eight years ago from Raleigh, North Carolina to spend time with her grandchildren. She retired from the state of North Carolina as a surveillance supervisor in the communicable disease department of the CDC. She is a member of the First Church of God of Mt Sterling. Ann thoroughly enjoyed her outings with her church's 55 or Better Group and frequenting her favorite places like Los Rodeos and Dairy Queen. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sports games and watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals on TV. Ann was a wonderful listener, had a fantastic sense of humor, and was a joy to spend time with. She will be dearly missed by her family, church family and friends.
Mary is survived by one son, John Laible of Raleigh, one daughter, Heather Johnson (Brian) of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren, Jacob Johnson, Cassie Johnson and Megan Johnson, all of Mt. Sterling; Brian Johnson II (Maggie) of Knoxville, three brothers, Tom Broderick (Patti) of Overland Park, Kansas, Dave Broderick (Linda Gonzalez) of Centennial, Colorado, and Mike Broderick (Pam) of San Marcoe, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Coman (Jim) of Branson, Missouri; previous husband, Robert "Bob" Laible (Dorothy "Dodie") of Raleigh.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by one brother, Francis "Beetle" Broderick, Jr.; three sisters, Kay Watson, Carol Burrell and Joyce Goodloe.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 12:00PM. Visitation is prior from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, both services at the First Church of God in Mt. Sterling. Committal will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. Pastor David Dooley will be officiating.
