Mary "Mary Jo" Ann Tyree

Mary "Mary Jo" Ann Arnold Tyree, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on August 11, 1929, in Preston, to the late Joseph and Ruth Donohew Arnold.

Throughout her life, Mary Jo cherished the moments spent with her brothers, Morgan and Bobbie Sue Arnold, and her beloved niece, Kimberly Culberson.

In her journey through life, Mary Ann lived in California and Texas before settling down in Mt. Sterling, where she found a sense of belonging and peace. She was renowned for her exceptional cooking skills and delighted in preparing meals that brought loved ones together.

An enthusiastic movie aficionado, Mary Jo would often escape into the world of cinema, sharing stories and laughter with family. She had an enduring love for traveling and exploring new places, which added vibrancy to her life experiences. Her green thumb also shone brightly in her affection for potted plants and garden flowers, which she tended to lovingly, embracing the beauty of nature.

A passionate supporter of the UK Wildcats, she enjoyed following all UK sports, especially the basketball team, celebrating their victories with spirited enthusiasm.

Mary Jo is survived by her nieces, Kimberly Culberson, who provided her with care, love, and companionship during her later years, and Paula Murphy (Jim Jones); great niece and nephew, Brittany Jackson (Adam Flanders) and Morgan Culbertson (Ashlea); great-great nieces and nephews, Morgan Lawwill (Jake), Dawson Jackson, Kayley Jackson, Preston Jackson, Riley Jackson, Hannah Jackson, Riley Flanders, Mollie Culbertson, Marley Culbertson; great-great-great nephew, Klae Lawwill.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jo is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Tyree; loving brother and sister-in-law, Morgan and Bobbie Sue Arnold; sister, Annette Stevens.
