Mattie Louise Garrett

October 2, 1933 — December 21, 2013

Mattie Louise Greene Garrett, 80, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling. She was born October 2, 1933 in Montgomery County to the late Virgil and Lula Mae Davis Greene.

Mattie was a native of Montgomery County and of the Christian faith. She was retired from Bourbon Community Hospital where she worked as a Dietary Assistant for 40 years. She was an avid Nascar and UK Wildcats fan, but her greatest passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include; one son, Danny Garrett (Lisa) of Mt. Sterling; three daughters, Tracey Spencer (Rick) of Mt. Sterling, Pam Ritchie (Larry) of Paris, and Debbie Garrett (Dwayne) of Mt. Sterling; one brother, Fred Greene (Mable) of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Virgie Greene of Mt. Sterling; seven grandchildren, Lee Ann Ritchie, Chris Garrett (Winter), Blake Spencer (Tiffany), Laura Spencer, Elani Rogers, Jordan Ritchie, and Tyler Rogers; six great grandchildren, Preston, Olivia and Halley Spencer, Lillie Venters, Nate and Gabe Ritchie; special friends, Evelyn Gevedon and Nellie Dyer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Owen Garrett; sister, Mayme Norris.

Pallbearers: Blake Spencer, Chris Garrett, Jordan Ritchie, Tyler Rogers, Brad Garrett, Chad Davis, and Cody Thacker.

Honorary Pallbearers: Gilbert, Jim, John, and Scotty Garrett, Jimmy Kerns, Juanita Norris, Joyce Ballinger, and Marie Elam.
