Born on January 29, 1957, in West Liberty, Kentucky, to the late Ray and Dottie May Adkins. Michael spent the majority of his life in Owingsville, where he established deep roots and a lasting legacy.

Michael was a man of many passions. His love for sports was evident through his fervent enthusiasm for basketball and tennis, which he played with vigor and joy. Michael was not just an athlete; he was a five-time national wheelchair bodybuilding champion, a testament to his strength, resilience, and determination. These qualities extended beyond sports and into his everyday life where he embraced challenges with a smile.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Michael was a skilled mechanic, known for his problem-solving abilities and dedication to his craft. His industrious spirit and unwavering commitment to excellence were admired by many.

He was a devoted father to his son, Phillip Adkins, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.
