Norbert John Liss

Norbert John Liss, 76, of Mt. Sterling passed away Tuesday evening, April 25, 2023 at University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington. He was born on January 19, 1947 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late John and Estelle Berkowicz Liss.

Norbert was a former resident of Chicago, Illinois and Las Vegas Nevada. He worked for Sante Fe railroad and started his own trucking company, Robin Cartage, in Chicago, Illinois in 1982. He semiretired and became a taxi cab driver while living in Las Vegas. In 2013, when he fully retired, he moved to Mount Sterling and became a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Norbert was a lifelong Catholic and attended seminary school for two years. He was a war buff enthusiast and he enjoyed traveling the United States with his wife on their Gold Wing motorcycle when they became empty nesters. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Norbert is survived by his three children, Scott Liss (Stella) of Maysville, Marc Liss (Michelle) of Seattle, Washington and Robin Waters (Greg) of Mt. Sterling; four grandchildren, Tyler Waters (Amanda) of Lexington, Danielle Waters of Mt. Sterling, Jacob Liss of Seattle, Washington and Karissa Flora of Maysville; brother, Michael Liss (Audrey) of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents Norbert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-six years, Gayle Calkins Liss; two sisters, Kathleen Liss (Order of the Sisters of St. Joseph) and Betty Waddick.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 5, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 139 West Main Street Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Norbert's memory to St. Patrick Catholic Church 139 West Main Street Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353.
