It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Raymond Gillig, who departed this life peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on May 4, 1953, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Ralph George and Incarnata “Inky” Gates Gillig, Paul was a devoted family man who brought laughter and joy to all who knew him.

Paul was a proud graduate of Calvert High School, Class of 1971, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Tiffin University in 1975. A dedicated sales manager in the food industry, Paul's strong work ethic and methodical approach were hallmarks of his professional life. He was respected and admired by colleagues and clients alike.

However, it was in his family life where Paul truly shone. He cherished his beloved wife, Alberta Gillig, and was a loving and playful father to his children, instilling in them values of hard work, humor, and loyalty.

Paul had a zest for life that was evident in his passions. He loved attending sporting events, with a particular fondness for baseball—creating treasured memories, such as taking his son, Brandon, to a memorable World Series game. He found joy in family outings to amusement parks, where the thrill of roller coasters became cherished traditions. Paul’s love for golf brought him particular happiness, especially with Alberta as his faithful caddie, sharing laughter and companionship on the course.

A true jokester at heart, Paul had an infectious laugh that brought warmth to every gathering. He was a perfectionist, always striving for excellence in everything he did, yet he balanced this with a light-hearted spirit that brightened every room he entered. His loyalty to his favorite teams—the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds—was unwavering and fueled many spirited debates at home.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Alberta Gillig; his children, Ashley Culbertson (Shane) and Brandon Gillig; and his grandchild, Kameron Culbertson. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael “Smily” Gillig (Diane), Patricia Heckel (Roger), Marilyn Wangler (Ed), Susan Weidner (Terry), and Christine Rivera (Leo) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary, who was stillborn; and his brother, James Gillig (Marilyn “Mame”).

He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and integrity. Paul Raymond Gillig will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
