Peggy Sue (Sword) Johnson

February 20, 1970 — November 3, 2015

Peggy Sue Sword Johnson, 45, of Mt. Sterling, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling. She was born February 20, 1970 in Wyandott, Michigan to the late Elbert Sword and Anna Riddle Cornwell.

Peggy moved to Montgomery County thirty-six years ago from Pike County, Kentucky.  She enjoyed reading, watching T.V. and cooking.  Peggy was a honest and compassionate women, she had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and supporting  all the area teenagers; on one occasion, her granddaughter, Kearston, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, so Peggy shaved her head to support her.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include; her husband, Arthur "Junior" Johnson, Jr. of Mt. Sterling; two sons, Chris Johnson of Mt. Sterling and Fred Johnson of Jeffersonville; one daughter, Harley Johnson of Jeffersonville; her mother, Anna Riddle Cornwell of Jeffersonville; nine grandchildren; Kearsten Johnson, Breonna Johnson, AJ Johnson, all of Owingsville, Alexis Johnson of Hazard, Christopher Besselman and David Besselman, both of Jeffersonville, Daniella Vance, Twyla Vance and Layla Johnson, all of Mt. Sterling; one brother, Foley Cornwell; two sisters, Monna Jarman (Buddy) and Kim Markland (Eugene), both of Jeffersonville; mother-in-law, Ellie Johnson of Mt. Sterling; one brother-in-law, Billy Johnson of Mt. Sterling; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, DanElla Johnson, her father-in-law, Arthur Johnson, Sr. and her brother-in-law, Bobby Johnson.
