Philippe Auber passed away on January 20th at the Clark Regional Medical Center from unknown causes. He was born Roger Louis Goudable in Paris, France on January 7, 1939 and is survived by his spouse of forty years, Wally Barker. He was 87 years old. Preceding him in death are his parents, Camille Goudable and Paulette Aubergier. He became a U.S. citizen in 1990 at which time he changed his name legally in the U.S. to Philippe Auber, which had been his stage name in France since his late teens. He is survived by half-siblings, Brigitte Vetraino and Pascale in the South of France.
Philippe moved to Los Angeles in 1965 to pursue an acting career, working opposite Sharon Tate in the film The Valley of the Dolls. He soon moved from show business to working retail at Mike Bain's on Rodeo Drive before transitioning to the culinary field, working at restaurants in L.A. and Las Vegas. He moved to New York City in 1986 where he worked as a Private Chef to Elizabeth Kabler, William Rosenwald (owner of Sears), socialite Louise Grunwald, and Linda Wachner (CEO of Speedo and Calvin Klein brands). He worked for Mr. Kahn (stepson of Walter Annenburg) of Newport, R.I. and Miami, before retiring in 1990 from the East 65th Street townhouse of Donatella Versace.
We would like to thank the employees at Caretenders, Commonwealth Home Health, Hospice East and all the staff of Doctors and nurses at Clark Regional and U.K. who have provided such excellent assistance to us over the years.
