Richard James Cope

Richard James Cope, 67, of Mt. Sterling passed away on Thursday evening, December 23, 2021 at Ridgeway Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Owingsville.  He was born in Ft. Knox, Kentucky on May 22, 1954 to the late Chester "Chet" and Beverly Williams Cope.

Richard moved to Montgomery County twenty-five years ago from Michigan, he is of the Baptist faith, retired maintenance supervisor at UK Medical Center and a United States Air Force veteran.  He enjoyed; wood working, fishing, listening to 70's rock music, visiting auctions and vegetable & flower gardening.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Jeanne Gisse Cope of Mt. Sterling; two daughters, Jessica Coyle (Tim) of Jeffersonville and Lindsay Cope of Mt. Sterling; one granddaughter, Lilly Coyle of Jeffersonville; aunt & uncle, Larry and Carmen Curtiss of Lake Odessa, Michigan; dear family friend, Rebecca Bevins of Mt. Sterling.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Vivien Williams.
