It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "Rob" Nelson Medley, who left this world on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on December 28, 1950, in Carlisle, to the late Bill Sr. and Francis Wright Medley. Rob spent the latter years of his life in Mt. Sterling, where he relocated from Barbourville six years ago.
Rob dedicated his life to the trade of masonry, where his skilled hands and commitment made him a respected figure in the construction industry. His craftsmanship not only built structures but also a legacy of hard work and resilience that will be cherished by those who knew him.
Outside of work, Rob found joy in the natural world. He was an avid fisherman and took great pleasure in hunting, particularly for rabbit and squirrel. His love for the outdoors was paralleled only by his passion for NASCAR, where he would often spend weekends cheering for his favorite drivers.
Rob is survived by his children, Robert Allen Medley, Robert Medley III, Hope Masterson, Sandra Jackson, Kenneth Medley, Ian Medley, George Medley and William Thornsburg (Stacy Fizette).
In addition to his parents, Rob in preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loren Shoneburger Medley; daughter, Francis Medley; siblings, Phyllis Gray, William Medley, Jr., Mary Tincher, and James Medley.
Private family service.
As we reflect on Rob's life, may we remember the laughter he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the love he spread. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
