Robyn Joann Jones Sponcil Clemons

Robyn Joann Jones Sponcil Clemons, 70, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 at University of Kentucky Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Dayton, Ohio on March 13, 1954, Joann was the daughter of the late James Jones Sr. and Ina Christine Whitley Jones Walker.

Radiant and warm-hearted, Joann found joy in tending to her garden's vibrant blooms, bargain hunting at Goodwill, and crafting beautiful spaces through her talent for wallpapering and painting. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and her home was always filled with delicious scents of her cooking. An avid TV enthusiast, Joann enjoyed lively conversations and was never hesitant to share her honest opinions.

Joann is survived by her son, Robert Sponcil (Kristina); daughters, Lida Sponcil Collins (Randy) and Kim Law (Bruce Watkins); grandsons, Greg Cornwell (Jamie Davis), Michael Cornwell (Brittany) and Tony Law (Bethany); granddaughters, Courtney Spangler, Peyton Sponcil (Heath Tubbs) and Mackenzie Sponcil; great grandsons, Mason Cornwell, Connor Tubbs, Lucas Tubbs and Joseph Rice; sisters; Mearlyn Jeanette Jones Mullins Taylor Faulkner (Wade), Barbara J. Jones Hawk (Steve), Betty Walker Turner; brothers, James Jones Jr., and David Walker (Carolyn); a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Tina Turner. 

In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her sisters, Carol Sue Jones Clark Staten, Marina Susie Jones Alsept Hiler, and Thelma Jones Cole Riddle; brothers, Robert E. Jones, Clyde “Pig” Walker Jr., and Johnny Ray Jones (infant brother).
