It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rodney Lee Brown, who gained his angel wings on Monday, June 1, 2026, on what would have marked his 57th birthday. A native of Mt. Sterling, Rodney was born on June 1, 1969, to the late John Jones and Cheryl Thompson, and spent his life in the community he cherished.
Rodney was a proud graduate of Montgomery County High School, where he excelled on the football field, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He remained an avid fan of the sport, cheering for teams at all levels and sharing his love for football with friends and family. Also, a member of High Street Christian Church. Rodney was known for his warm and affectionate spirit, earning him the affectionate nickname "Candy Man" from the neighborhood children.
He found joy in simple pleasures, often spending time in the park, surrounded by nature, friends, and the laughter of loved ones. His passion for good food was well-known, as he relished moments spent sharing meals with those he cared for. Family and friendships were paramount to Rodney, and he dedicated much of his time nurturing these bonds.
Rodney is survived by his beloved cousin, Paulette Porter (Preston) and special friend girlfriend, Joyce Fultz.
No services scheduled at this time.
As we remember Rodney, let us carry forward his spirit of compassion, his love for family, and his enthusiasm for enjoying life to the fullest. May he rest in peace.
