Shelbie Dean (Tackett) Banks

September 16, 1947 — July 7, 2017

Shelbie Dean Tackett Banks, 69, of Mt. Sterling, died Friday morning, July 7, 2017 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.  She was born September 16, 1947 in Van Lear, Kentucky to the late Ed and Velma Blanton Tackett.

Shelbie moved to Mt. Sterling six years ago from Van Lear and was a retired nurse from Highlands Regional Medical Center.  She was a hard worker, stubborn, along with having a big hearted personality.  Shelbie enjoyed; in her younger years she competing in dance competitions, listening to music, knitting, reading, cooking and gardening.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include; her beloved husband, William "Podge" Banks of Mt. Sterling; two daughters, Paula Webb of Pikeville and Jammie Banks of Mt. Sterling; three brothers, Freddy Tackett of Richmond, Johnny Tackett (Vida) of Prestonsburg and Eddie Tackett (Kay) of Winchester; three sisters, Phyliss May (Raymond) of Paintsville, Patricia Butcher (Tom) of Johns Creek and Cornelia Mullins (Tom) of Keaton; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles "Chuck" Banks; two siblings, Bo Tackett and Darlene Goble.
