Shirley Gene Kimbrell

Shirley G. Kimbrell, 74, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday,  January 28, 2021 at his residence.   He was born in Mt. Sterling on October 4, 1946 to the late Shirley and Nannie Crockett Kimbrell.

Shirley was a native of Montgomery County,  a veteran of the United States Army and retired from his position as an inspector at Rockwell after many years.   Shirley looked forward to the Spring and was an avid and meticulous gardener; he loved working in his yard, flower and vegetable gardens.   He loved being on the lake boating and enjoyed UK basketball.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Shirley is survived by one sister; Mae Belle Walker of Mt. Sterling; special niece; Monica Hartgrove (Jake) of Mt. Sterling; special nephew; Richard Myers of Mt. Sterling; special friend; Ron Slone of Winchester; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Shirley was preceded in death by ten brothers; Les Kimbrell, Ed Kimbrell, Paul Kimbrell, James Kimbrell, Howard Myers, Paul Myers, Jake Myers, Everett Myers, Billy Myers, Freddie Myers; two sisters; Mary Walker and Ruth Kennedy.
