Silas Bibb Raney

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Silas Bibb Raney, who departed this life on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at UK Medical Center in Lexington after a brief illness. Silas was born on October 14, 1957, in Frenchburg, to the late Willard and Dulcie Conway Raney.

Silas was a native to Menifee County, where he would spend his life forging cherished relationships and building lasting memories with family and friends. He was a member of the Frenchburg Baptist Church, where he found joy in his faith and community. As a truck driver, Silas dedicated many years to the transportation industry, admired by colleagues and customers alike for his reliability and work ethic. His passion for mechanics was evident in the way he skillfully worked on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, as well as his cars. Silas found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from mowing his yard to traveling, and he took pride in his collection of knives and guns. Most importantly, Silas loved spending time with his family and friends. He had an infectious laugh and a big heart that brought warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him.

He and his loving wife, Margie, shared an enduring bond, having been together for 32 years before marrying in 2025. Their love story was a testament to devotion and companionship, inspiring those who knew them. Silas is also survived by his children, Matthew Byrnes (Rachel), Lindsay Bynes, and Katelyn Raney; grandchildren, Caleb Byrnes (Keana), Haleign Byrnes (Trayton), Madison Crank (Kaiden), Makenze Williamson, and Bentley Williamson; great grandson, Kruze Byrnes; sister, Sara Lynn Daugherty.

In addition to his late parents, Silas is preceded in death by his brothers, John Raney and Lowell Raney. Celebration of life will be at a later date.

Silas Bibb Raney will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
