Thedford Rova Thorne, Sr.

Thedford Rova Thorne, Sr., age 82, of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday, June 4, 2026. Rova was born on Jones Mountain in West Virginia, on June 24, 1943, the last of 12 children of Frank and Lake Thorne.

Rova spent his career as a truck driver, mostly moving household goods, and finished his career hauling produce and other refrigerated products. Of course, he did not retire and continued assisting his former drivers with loading/unloading their trucks. He enjoyed the property that he owned in Michigan and spent many hours working outside to improve the property. In 2012, Bo came into his life, and they were fast friends despite him always saying "I hate that dog". When he moved to Texas, he volunteered to do all the yard work at a local church. While he had a rough exterior and was extremely stubborn, he had a good heart and was always willing to help others.

He is survived by his two sons, Thedford (Jennifer) Thorne, Jr. of Georgetown, KY and Michael (Kimberly) Thorne of Mt. Sterling; 5 grandchildren/several great grandchildren, and one sister, Shirley Shelly of Capon Bridge, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Russell, Bill, Bob, Dan, Alan "Sonny", and Frank; and his sisters, Phyllis, Nancy, and Donna "Dimple".

His celebration of life will take place on Friday, June 12, 2026. Visitation will be held at the Jeffersonville Baptist Church from 5:00PM to 6:00PM, followed by a memorial service commencing at 6:00PM. Pastor Linville Sprangler will be officiating.
