With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Tommy Cockrell, 82, a devoted husband, and loyal member of the Rolling Hills Church of Christ. Tommy was born on September 30, 1942, in Mt. Sterling, to the late Frank and Eliza Donaldson Cockrell.
Throughout his life, Tommy was known for his love of high school basketball, particularly cheering on the Montgomery County High School team, as well as his passion for supporting the Kentucky Wildcats basketball program. He found solace in watching classic western films and took pride in tending to his vegetable garden, with a particular fondness for growing flavorful tomatoes.
Tommy's hard work at Hobert Manufacturing did not go unnoticed, and his dedication to his work was evident to all who knew him.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Delores Conkright Cockrell; sisters, Betty Richardson and Nancy Frodge; step-children, Shannon Watkins (Bill) and Rex Conway (Elena); four step-grandchildren.
In addition to Tommy's parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Judeth Cockrell and their children, James Cockrell and Michelle Cockrell; siblings, Wayne Cockrell, Jane McGlothen, and Charles Cockrell.
Tommy's final journey will commence with a Funeral Service at the Rolling Hills Church of Christ on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 12:00pm, with a Visitation prior to the service at 10:00 am. Following the service, Tommy will be laid to rest at Machpelah Cemetery. Bro. Dan Murphy and Bro. Jerry Carmichael will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tommy’s memory to the Rolling Hills Bible Camp, 125 Rolling Hills Drive, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353.
