William Tandy Chenault

March 31, 1947 — December 16, 2019

William Tandy Chenault, 72,  of Mt. Sterling, died Monday, December 16, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.  He was born on March 31, 1947 in Maysville to the late Tandy and Mary Kathleen Shepherd Chenault.

Tandy was a lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling and taught biology for the Montgomery County School System.  He received his Master's Degree from Morehead State University, instructed carry & conceal deadly weapon courses as well as hunter safety courses.  In 1991 he was named Citizen of the Year by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Tandy enjoyed riding motorcycles, volunteering his time as an election officer and spending time with friends made through a lifelong passion of firearms and shooting events.  He will be dearly missed by friends and family.

He is survived by one brother, David Chenault of Mt. Sterling, the many friends made through the school system, and by his "shooting buddies".

Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
